Bagging groceries is a lost art. I know I've mentioned this before, yes? No? I've gotten to the point lately where I'd rather go to a self-check to pack my own bags. Go to a cashier and still pack my own? Nah. They don't scan my groceries in the order in which I want them to.; the order in which I have placed them on the belt.
If I let them bag my groceries, they'll give me 15 to 20 plastic bags. If I let them use my reusable bags, they'd use probably 10 or 12. When I pack them, I use 4-6 of my reusable bags. Yes, I pack them full because they're meant to be packed full. I don't want to have to make 4 trips to the truck just to unload groceries because the checker has put them in 80 billion different bags. And you've gotta KNOW that other people just don't recycle those plastic ones. It's sad...
Yes, this rant has a point.
A few weeks ago, I was making my usual rounds of grocery shopping when the self-check I was at decided to crash. I was ASSURED by the cashier manager that I would not be charged for the groceries because a receipt didn't print. Lesson #1 - ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS make the cashier check the system BEFORE taking their word for it.
I was so irritated that we left some impulse items at the register. The bags were unpacked just as we had packed them and the cashier STILL picked and chose what to scan next. I honestly did fuss at him for this. "Please just scan them the way they are on the belt!" So, yeah. I left some items. Consequently, the second round of groceries wasn't exactly the same as the first round. *shrugs*
Monday, I get notice that my paycheck has hit the bank. So, I log in and low and behold! *GASP* There's TWO charges on my card from WalMart. *sigh* Yup. I call and they can't find EITHER transaction for Saturday even after giving them my complete number over the phone. So, I have to bring a copy of my bank statement in as proof and they'll refund my money.
We were there over an hour. They couldn't find the transaction. We argued over the amount to be refunded. The accounting manager FINALLY found my charges and some poor soul drew the short straw and had to re-ring all the items from the barcode on the printout of the receipt. Over an hour. All because the cashier manager didn't check and I didn't MAKE them check to verify I wasn't charged.
From there, we picked up S's suits from the tailors and my split dress. Whoops.
From there, we headed to yet ANOTHER WalMart with a vision center because I DESPERATELY need new glasses. Lesson 2 - MAKE AN APPOINTMENT! LOL There for 45 minutes waiting for to be seen for what was approximately a 10 minute visit. Yup. Not my first rodeo folks. I've been wearing these LOVELY things on my face since I was 13. *note to self, get your PD for online glasses*
Then waited about 40 minutes for the ONE person working the vision center to take my order for glasses. Then to regular grocery shopping. We left the house around 9 ish I think and didn't get home until 4 ish.
Yeah. You read me right. We were in WalMarts almost all day.
Thankfully, this was in the crockpot for when we got home.
Spray the insert of a slow cooker with cooking spray. Combine first 5 ingredients in a mixing bowl, stirring well to combine.
